We have a PANDAS specialist! A few weeks ago I stayed up all night emailing specialist. At 5 am I sent my last email to Dr. T. At 10: 30 am he personally called me back to inform me he wanted to help us with Bray. He was the only doctor to respond back! He actually wanted to help! He took down all of Bray's info and went on to question me about Kenzee. At the end of the telephone conversation he told me he would be emailing me scripts to get blood work done on both kids and a new antibiotic(azithromycin) to add to Bray's current antibiotic(augmentin). I didn't receive the email after a few days so I called Dr. T b/c I was thinking he wrote the email address down wrong. He told me his wife and kid was sick with the flu and he'd send it soon. I waited a week. I still didn't get it and this time no answer back. I thought, oh no! He's changed his mind about helping us with Bray. 2 weeks and I still had heard nothing. I call today to see what's going on and finally get an answer. His whole family became ill with the flu and he hadn't been in the office. So finally after two weeks I get the email today. I have to print off the scripts and take them to our pediatrician in the morning so she can order the blood work for our local lab to draw. I am soooo happy that we're back on track! I was scared that he was scared away by everything going on with Bray. Just the opposite, Bray is a case he's never seen before b/c he's deaf and has the PANDAS. He understands how hard it is for us b/c of Bray's communication issues and having the PANDAS. PANDAS also causes speech issues. At this point Dr. T is thinking this is why Bray's speech has yet to catch up. I'm excited to be working with such a great doctor!
The meeting that Bray's teachers went to at the Clarke School went great. The school gave his teachers new strategies on how to work with him. I'm so glad they made the trip and learned something new.
